Johnsonville® Sauage: It's The Good Stuff! + Win a Slow Cooker and Product from Johnsonville®!

Now, those who know me personally know that I'm a major spend thrift. In a lot of situations, store brand product is cheaper and honestly, not much different in taste, flavor, even variety. There are a few exceptions. One of the biggest ones discovered in my house, is sausage. A lot of other meats as well... but today, I'm talking about SAUSAGE.

My husband and I spend quite a bit of time in Leavenworth. A beautiful, little Bavarian-themed town right on Highway 2 in Washington State. It's one of our favorite places to visit almost every time of year! I'd like to tell you that I go there for the scenery, which is absolutely stunning, but, alas... it's the FOOD.

Their food is absolutely amazing! If you are on a low-carb diet, you are in luck, because as long as you aren't a big fan of pastries (heh), you can be 100% satisfied and just eat crazy-good meat the whole time you are there. (And splurge on some wine and beer!) YUM SAUSAGE....! Anyways, off track a bit... we know good sausage. And we probably (okay we do) eat too much of it.

I did a side by side comparison of Johnsonville® Sausage and our usual store brand of sausage a few months ago when I was given my first project with Johnsonville and

Visually, and texturally, the meat was already different. But, that alone wouldn't have warded me from being cheap. Nope. 
They both browned evenly, even smelled amazing, but the store brand had more grease run off than Johnsonville did when it was fully cooked. The biggest test was the taste test. Johnsonville® was far superior in flavor to the store brand.  Not to mention, it's all natural with no MSG, gluten, preservatives, or artificial -anything-.

AllRecipes and Johnsonville® signed us lucky AllStars Ambassadors up with a second round of product testing. I was already won over, but was completely happy to test and taste some new recipes! My favorite of all of them being the Sausage, Peppers, & Spaghetti Squash! This was my first time trying spaghetti squash, sans noodles, and let me tell you, I'll be doing it again! Try it out!

Our family has switched completely over to Johnsonville®, and am now 100% brand loyal.

  1. I fully agree with your sausage review. I've had a couple store brands vs Johnsonville. Weather it is breakfast links, or ground pork, Johnsonville wins every time. Not only have i noticed the grease difference, I've also noticed a texture difference. After you teased me with a small bite of the Sausage, Peppers and Spaghetti Squash, I knew I was going to have to make more! I loved this so much it will be a fall/winter favorite in my house. Went into my cook book! Thank you for sharing Jaana! <3

    2. Oh I forgot to mention I used Johnsonville Apple chicken sausage in my Sausage, Peppers and Spaghetti Squash recipe! It was super yummy.Highly recommend you try it! was 1/2 the fat but ALL the flavor. =D
