Allrecipes.com, Seattle & Kahlúa Espresso Martini: PART ONE!

Thanks to Allrecipes.com & Kahlúa,I got to spend some time in Seattle to have the experience of a lifetime! Working with these two companies to create videos for allrecipes.com was an absolute blast! (Not to mention fun to brag about! *big grin*)

Seattle is always an adventure for my family. We are only an hour north of Downtown, so a day trip is always easy-peasy! We absolutley love Pike Place Market and it's abundance of fresh, local product. We particularly enjoy taking our daughter to the peer and letting her walk around the Seattle Aquarium! This is one of her favorite places to be. In fact, "fish" was Skarlette's first word, all because of a trip to the Seattle Aquarium!

My job was to work with the team to help create the Kahlúa Espresso Martini video. The video was shot in three stages: "video", "the interview", and "the voice over." I would have to say that "the interview" portion was the most nerve racking, but the awesome personalities around me kept me at ease! Thanks guys! I cannot wait to see and share these awesome videos!

The seasonal flavors of Kahlúa are fantastic! I've personally gotten to try Pumpkin Spice and Gingerbread in addition to the Original. Pumpkin Spice would be my favorite of all the Kahlúa flavors! This wouldn't be a surprise to anyone who knows me personally!

...to be continued.

Nurse Mommy Sponsored Giveaway! Joey Ring Sling Review! Get in on this one!

Comfy Joey Ring Sling Review and Giveaway
Hosted By: The Nurse Mommy and Ramblings of Mama

First we want to thank Comfy Joey for sponsoring this awesome $50 gift certificate giveaway, and a BIG thank you to all the promoting bloggers helping to spread the word about Comfy Joey!

Comfy Joey makes easy to use ring sling carriers here in the US with only the best material. Here are a few of perks of using Comfy Joey:
  • Can be used from birth to 35 pounds
  • Babywearing is great to soothe fussy or colicky babies
  • Gives you a hands free way to hold baby
  • Folds up compactly to fit in diaper bags AND purses
  • Easy to nurse in while on the go

I selected a House on the Prairei grey linen with pink accent ring sling to try out, which is a gorgeous Grey and Light Pink linen fabric that's super breathable. The first couple times trying it out, I suggest putting your baby/toddler in the sling over a bed or a sofa until you feel more secure with the positioning and placement in the sling. Number one most important rule of slings: Head must be UPRIGHT (no back-lying or side-lying newborns AT ALL for risk of suffocation), and their head must be close enough to kiss!

Please check out Michelle's full Comfy Joey Ring Sling review on The Nurse Mommy.

Comfy Joey has agreed to give one of our lucky readers a $50 gift certificate to use for their own Comfy Joey ring sling. If you don't win, don't worry! Their ring slings are so reasonably priced, you should totally get yourself one (or two) for your baby carrier stash!

Johnsonville® Sauage: It's The Good Stuff! + Win a Slow Cooker and Product from Johnsonville®!

Now, those who know me personally know that I'm a major spend thrift. In a lot of situations, store brand product is cheaper and honestly, not much different in taste, flavor, even variety. There are a few exceptions. One of the biggest ones discovered in my house, is sausage. A lot of other meats as well... but today, I'm talking about SAUSAGE.

My husband and I spend quite a bit of time in Leavenworth. A beautiful, little Bavarian-themed town right on Highway 2 in Washington State. It's one of our favorite places to visit almost every time of year! I'd like to tell you that I go there for the scenery, which is absolutely stunning, but, alas... it's the FOOD.

Their food is absolutely amazing! If you are on a low-carb diet, you are in luck, because as long as you aren't a big fan of pastries (heh), you can be 100% satisfied and just eat crazy-good meat the whole time you are there. (And splurge on some wine and beer!) YUM SAUSAGE.... wine...beer! Anyways, off track a bit... we know good sausage. And we probably (okay we do) eat too much of it.

I did a side by side comparison of Johnsonville® Sausage and our usual store brand of sausage a few months ago when I was given my first project with Johnsonville and Allrecipes.com.

Visually, and texturally, the meat was already different. But, that alone wouldn't have warded me from being cheap. Nope.
They both browned evenly, even smelled amazing, but the store brand had more grease run off than Johnsonville did when it was fully cooked. The biggest test was the taste test. Johnsonville® was far superior in flavor to the store brand.  Not to mention, it's all natural with no MSG, gluten, preservatives, or artificial -anything-.

AllRecipes and Johnsonville® signed us lucky AllStars Ambassadors up with a second round of product testing. I was already won over, but was completely happy to test and taste some new recipes! My favorite of all of them being the Sausage, Peppers, & Spaghetti Squash! This was my first time trying spaghetti squash, sans noodles, and let me tell you, I'll be doing it again! Try it out!

Our family has switched completely over to Johnsonville®, and am now 100% brand loyal.

Don't believe me?!?
                      Take the test yourself!

Leave a comment and let me know if you could tell a difference in your own recipes!

Go see what all the buzz is about HERE. You could win a 6-qt. Crock-pot® slow cooker and FREE Johnsonville® Italian Ground Sausage!!

Read this if you've been wondering about Comforts For Baby: An HONEST review.

As a BzzAgent on BzzAgent.com, I get to try many great products for free, or highly discounted, to review and let the companies know what I think. As an honest blogger, I'm going to keep this honest, honestly!
Anyone can sign up for the program! It's a lot of fun and I've gotten all kinds of great stuff, both new and established brands, to try. You can find these guys to sign up or just scope them out here: BzzAgent.com

I was excited to receive the Comforts For Baby BzzCampaign. I'm a frequent shopper at Fred Meyer (Kroger Brand) and had never tried the Comforts For Baby line. This was a great opportunity to feed mine, and my husband's, curiosity!

I received coupons for free: diapers, wipes, lotion, shampoo, body wash, and a bib or wash cloths. I was, unfortunately, unable to locate the bibs or wash cloths and any of our Kroger Co. Family of Stores to test.

You can read all about Comforts For Baby here, or connect with them and other Comforts for Babies mom and dads on Facebook here. Or at their community page here. It was great learning that a very affordable brand was available to my family that was gentle and mild, used natural and renewable materials, and has been tested by dermatologists and pediatricians.

The loot!
First things first- the diapers! I chose the Comforts for Baby: Touch of Nature to review. According to their website these diapers are chlorine-free so they create less air and water pollution than many of the leading brands.

The diapers featured very cute designs that my daughter was immediately attracted to. Putting the diaper on was a little confusing. The diaper has extra tabs that I wasn't used to with my current diapers. While the diapers absorbed well and we didn't have any leaks, my main concern with these was the comfort level. The outside seemed a bit rough to the touch, probably due to the natural and renewable materials used. Skarlette didn't seem to care, but I worry about extended use and friction with these diapers. The fit seemed a bit loose on her thin legs. On a thicker-legged child, these would probably fit much better.

The wipes were listed as compare to: Huggies brand which is the brand of wipes I currently use so I was able to do a very good comparison. I really like the product packaging. It was easy to use and each wipe popped up after the last was removed. This was a great feature to have! The wipes worked great,  and held up very well, but the Huggies brand is still softer than the Comforts for Baby brand of wipes.

We tried the Comforts for Baby: Baby Shampoo and Baby Wash and were very satisfied with the products. They had a very light scent and didn't irritate her eyes. The products were very clearly labeled: "PARABEN FREE, Mild, Hypoallergenic, Tear Free, Dermatologist & Allergy tested." Skarlette did get the shampoo in her eyes, and didn't complain or get red-eyed at all. The shampoo worked up to a great lather and got her hair squeaky clean!

Comforts for Baby Mohawk!
Our absolute favorite of all the Comforts for Baby brand items we tried was the Night-time Baby Lotion.  Our family isn't a fan of the typical "baby powder smell" that seems to be in almost all baby products. The smell of the Night-Time Baby Lotion was very pleasant. Also PARABEN FREE, Pediatrician Tested and hypoallergenic, the smells of Lavender and Chamomile relaxed Skarlette and left both my husband and I wanting to cuddle her even more than usual! This lotion will most definitely be added to our nighttime bath routine and will replace our previous brand of baby lotion.

At the end of the day, I will keep most of my current brands of baby products. However,  if you are looking for a product that is delicate on your children's skin, for a VERY affordable price- Comforts for Baby would be an excellent option for you to try!

You can download coupons to try the brand from your local Kroger Co. Family of Stores here! Thanks for reading!
